Picture of the Day: Squirted

Sorry there haven't been any real blog posts lately, just a couple of pictures of the day. We're off tomorrow to visit my family in west Texas for several days. Hopefully we'll have a great time. One thing is for sure, though. It is going to be HOT! Try to stay cool, everyone. Even if you have to resort to squirting each other down with a hose!

Veronica,
I'm very happy with my camera, a Nikon D60. It is so fun to use and I know I have barely scratched the surface of what it is capable of. My brother has the Canon equivalent, the Rebel XTi, and it's great, too. I don't think you can go wrong with either the Nikon or the Canon, they're the best two brands of digital SLR cameras. The Nikon D40 is a less expensive version and the Nikon D80 is a bit fancier and pricier.

I use Photoshop Elements that I found on amazon for about $70. It's much cheaper than the big Photoshop CS3 and I've been very pleased with what I have been able to do with it. There are some easy photoshop tutorials for beginners in the photography section of The Pioneer Woman's blog, thepioneerwoman.com. She also has some great photography tips and if you click on the link on the left toolbar that says "Photography equipment", she has a great explanation of digital SLR cameras, the different lenses and what you can do with them. I really recommend reading that. Also, Scott Kelby has some great books, The Digital Photography Book and The Photoshop Elements 6 Book for Digital Photographers. Both are for beginners and I have found them extremely helpful. I was even able to find them in the public library.

I hope this helps! Feel free to ask me questions anytime. I'm happy to share what little knowledge that I have!
